Frequently asked questions

Good questions.
Clear answers.

A little preparation makes the inspection process easier. Here are answers to the questions we hear most often.

How much does a home inspection cost?

Pricing depends on the property’s size, age, and the services requested. Quotes are free. Send a request or call/text 828.582.5633 with the property address.

What does a home inspection include?

The inspection covers visible, accessible components of the structure, exterior, roof, plumbing, electrical, interiors, built-in appliances, heating and cooling, and insulation and ventilation. The report documents observed conditions and limitations. Additional testing has a separate scope.

How long does an inspection take?

A typical inspection takes about two to four hours at the property. Size, age, condition, access, and additional services can affect the timing. We’ll confirm the inspection details when scheduling.

What happens after the inspection?

Your findings are documented in a detailed online HomeGauge report, including photos and recommended next steps. Review the report at your own pace and contact Chris with questions.

When will I receive my report?

We aim to deliver the home inspection report within 24 hours. Timing can vary with the property and services. Radon monitoring and laboratory testing follow their own timelines; we’ll explain the expected schedule when you book.

Where do you inspect homes?

Our service area includes Asheville, Weaverville, Hendersonville, Brevard, and surrounding Western North Carolina communities. Contact Chris with the address to confirm availability. Inspection services are offered in North Carolina.

Can I request radon, pest, water, or mold testing?

Yes. Ask about radon monitoring, wood-destroying insect inspections, water testing, and mold air sampling. We’ll discuss the appropriate scope for the property. Radon monitoring requires at least 48 hours; laboratory processing times vary.

Do you inspect homes for current owners and sellers?

Yes. Ask about pre-listing inspections, maintenance inspections, 11-month warranty inspections, and focused re-inspections.

How do I access my inspection report?

Use Client Login / Get My Report and enter your HomeGauge username and password. If you need help, call Chris. Your report and account remain with HomeGauge.

Can I see a sample report?

Yes. Open the sample HomeGauge report to explore the format, photos, and recommendations.
